Long Day...

Lots of driving today. That's about it. We started our day with breakfast at the Hampton Inn in Ottawa, Illinois. It was ok and it saved us some time. We jumped on I-80 at 8:15AM and headed West. Illinois was pretty boring. Not much to see until we got to Moline on the Illinois/Iowa border. We stopped for a bit to check out the Mississippi River. Very cool. After a couple photos we loaded back in the van and were off to Iowa. Holy smokes is Iowa boring! Nothing after nothing for hours on end. The only thing remotely cool was the Dairy Queen we hit and the hundreds of huge wind turbines we saw along the freeway. That was it. Seriously, if we could have skipped Iowa we would have. Nebraska was better...but not a whole lot. There's a pretty cool Union Pacific train display right at the border that I wish we could have stopped at, but we had a lot more driving left to do. About the best thing you can say about our drive across Illinois, Iowa and Nebraska is that we didn't accidently leave anyone behind...and no one puked in the van. We pulled in to the Hampton Inn in Kearney, Nebraska at 6:15PM and like yesterday headed straight for the warm pool. After dinner at Red Lobster we were all were happy to see our beds. Goodnight...
